Don't Forget to Decompress After You Declutter

Cleaning out your home can streamline your life, but it can be a stressful situation to begin with. Learn how to relax after you declutter this new year.

You've cleared everything out; you've scrubbed, and you've cleaned. The dumpster rental has been removed, and you are organized and ready for the new year. Isn't it time to reward yourself?

Many people start the new year off with a bang. Common resolutions include removing clutter and streamlining home organization for better efficiency. While the rewards to these resolutions are great, they do take a lot of work to achieve on the front end. If you have just completed a big project, taking a little time for yourself may be key to helping you stay on track throughout the year.

Pamper Your Hands and Feet

Chances are your hands and feet took a huge beating throughout the sorting process. While you were carrying heavy trash to your dumpster rental and sorting through your belongings, your hands were drying out, and your feet were taking on more weight than usual. A manicure and pedicure can get your extremities back into working order and keep you from experiencing pain and peeling throughout the winter months.

Go Shopping

Once you've cleared out, you can see a clean slate and start the fun process of decorating. Depending on your space and needs, shopping can be done online or in-store. Grab a shopping buddy to ensure you have a ton of fun–and that you don't walk away with impulse buys.

Throw a Party

You've got your home looking better than it ever has before; it's time to celebrate! Be sure to include anyone who helped you through the process. Throwing a party can be a great stress reliever, and can also give you the extra boost needed to follow through on any last minute projects that might still need attention.

One of the best parts of a dumpster rental is watching it drive away. Plan to catch up on any sleep you missed while you were getting rid of clutter by scheduling a day off to relax and recoup.
